In an Accident? Use your Smartphone to Record Data
Ok, you are in an automobile accident. You’re frightened, maybe injured, and even a bit dazed initially. Of course you shouldn’t have been texting or emailing while you were driving. Even some towns and states, such as California, don’t even allow you to be talking on your phone while driving. Yet, your phone can help you or others involved in the accident and also assist in collecting important information once you are in an accident.
First, if anyone involved is injured, you can call 911 immediately. Second, it is important to get information from the other driver, such as his or name, address, and phone number. You should also get the other driver’s car insurance information, which would include the name of the company, policy number, and phone numbers. If there witnesses to the accident, you should also obtain their names, addresses and phone numbers. Instead of finding a pen and paper to write down all of this information, you can record all of this information on your smartphone. Lastly, you should use your smartphone to take photos of both cars, including the make, model and license plate of the other vehicle and any damage either vehicle may have. Hopefully you and your loved ones won’t find yourselves in an automobile accident. If so, then be smart by using your smartphone to gather and preserve information that will only help you with future claims.
